Update; City, County Schools to Close Early Due to President's Visit

Feb. 7, 2014

Charlottesville and Albemarle County schools are closing early on Monday, in preparation for a presidential visit in our area.

All Albemarle County schools will close 2 hours ahead of schedule on Monday, Feb.10th, because of concerns with traffic caused by President's Obama's trip to Monticello.

Charlottesville High School will dismiss at 2 p.m., while Walker and Buford will dismiss at 1 p.m. Three-year-old classes will dismiss at 12:30pm, and elementary schools will dismiss at 1:30pm

After-school child care through the CLASS program will remain in session and end at the usual time. The activity buses will not run on Monday.

At this time, community-use after school activities for Albemarle Co. will not be cancelled.

A spokesperson says, about 70 percent of students will be impacted by road closures from the president's visit.
