The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has agreed to hold a public hearing concerning the Route 29 Western Bypass project.
The controversial 6 mile proposal has been discussed and hashed out since the 1980's. Plans were moving forward not too long ago, but the new board of supervisors wanted to give the public a chance to weigh in.
"Well I’m one of the people that doesn't feel that we can have any impact on it right now with the federal highway administration and the state,” says Albemarle Co. Supervisor Ken Boyd. “So I don’t really see dragging the community through another public hearing and dragging that all out again to hear the same things, the same people opposed, the same people in favor."
The hearing will be held at 4 p.m. on Feb. 19th.
