Albemarle County Supervisors will be visiting the lone star state.
The board approved a trip to Austin, Texas to learn how that capitol city found success in entertainment and culture.
A few board members tried to back away from spending $5,000 for the trip, saying Austin is not a comparable community to Albemarle.
"I don't think that there would be a whole lot that would be learned on that trip that could not be learned for a lot less money in other ways," said Albemarle County Supervisor Dennis Rooker. "I just didn't think it was a good expenditure of public funds."
Still the motion passed.
Three members will represent the county along with a select few from Charlottesville City Council.
Supervisor Ken Boyd, along with two members of the county's Economic Development office will make the trip next year.
During Wednesday's meeting, supervisors also approved a new cell phone tower near Route 20. The nTelos tower is meant to improve service in Scottsville.
There was some discussion about how noticeable the large antennas would be, but supervisors agreed there would be minimal visibility of the tower. They also approved modification to an existing Verizon tower on Sunset Avenue.
