Albemarle County Supervisors Duane Snow and Rodney Thomas held a press conference Friday afternoon, discussing the recent commercials airing about the Western Bypass and their involvement in the project.
The two Republican incumbents were interrupted at one point by an angry Charlottesville resident who accused them of ignoring those who are against the bypass.
Snow and Thomas defended the Western Bypass, saying the commercials by the Charlottesville Bypass Truth Coalition are spreading false information about the project and them.
"I would never pull somebody through the dirt," said Thomas. "In no way shape or form."
'We've been so wrapped up in our every day campaign getting the issues out, so we haven't paid much attention to all the things going on around us," argued Snow. "But when we found out they were illegal and not following the rules like the rest of us, i thought it was time we did say something. and while we're at it, might as well set the record straight again."
The two supervisors say the coalition should be more transparent, starting with releasing the names of the people funding the group.
