Construction on the Wegmans planned for Albemarle County could begin this spring.

Developers had initially wanted to begin construction at the end of last year but were waiting for more retailers to commit to the project known as Fifth Street Station.

Outside of Wegmans, a supermarket chain, developers haven't announced any other shops that could go into the project. Groundbreaking will likely take place this spring.

The massive complex is planned for an area just south of Charlottesville city limits, and it will connect Fifth and Avon streets. The final site plan will go before the Architectural Review Board on Monday.
