Albemarle Co. to Hold Public Meeting on Rt. 29 Advisory Panel's Solutions

May 27, 2014

The Route 29 Advisory Panel will present their findings to the public Tuesday evening, on ways to ease congestion along the busy corridor.

Earlier this month, the panel's recommendations were presented to the Commonwealth Transportation Board, and the board will make a final decision on June 18.

The $203 million proposal includes $145 million in new construction, four partially-funded projects under the Virginia Department of Transportation’s 6-year improvement plan and contributes $5 million to add more Amtrak train service between Lynchburg and Washington, DC.

Community members will have a chance to address the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors regarding the panel’s concept solutions package. The Board is also interested in hearing suggestions about the best ways to assist affected businesses during construction of the proposed improvements.

The public hearing is set to begin at 6 p.m. tonight in the Lane Auditorium in the Albemarle County Office Building.
