Jan. 23, 2014

Albemarle Co. Fire officials have concluded their investigation into the cause of the fire that killed three people in Keswick over the weekend.

After thorough investigation, officials were able to narrow down the area of the fire's origin to the immediate vicinity of a baseboard heater in the house.

Due to the devastating nature of the fire investigators have declared this an undetermined fire.

“We regret that despite an extremely rigorous investigation we were not able to get any closer to resolution for what we realize is a very emotional and impactful event for our community,” said Fire Rescue Chief Dan Eggleston.

They stress that no evidence was found to indicate the fire was anything other than accidental.
