The proposed Re-store N' Station is one step closer to becoming a reality in the quiet community of Crozet.

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors approved amended conditions for the gas station during its meeting Wednesday. Paramount among those modifications was allowing the owner to store rainwater for on-site landscaping use.

Following an hour-long public hearing in mid-October, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved modifications to the preliminary plans for the station planned for Route 250 in Crozet.

Following a compromise between the Board of Supervisors and project developer, Jo Higgins, the Station will move forward as a 3,000 square-foot facility instead of 6,000 square feet, it will house five pumps with ten nozzles instead of eight pumps with 16 nozzles and will operate for 16 hours a day instead of 24.

A large portion of Crozet residents have been outspoken against the proposed gas station, saying the size and scope doesn't fit the community standards. However, the Board did not allow further public comment at Wednesday's meeting.

The Re-storeN'Station will be built outside of the Crozet footprint and is therefore not an issue that the folks in Old Trail should meddle in. The CCAC has done enough to screw up what was once a great little town and need to leave Yancey Mills, Sealeville, White Hall and the other communities surrounding Crozet alone.
