Albemarle County Police report they made three DUI arrests on Saturday night and say they are preparing for more Super Bowl Sunday. There will be more cars patrolling the roads after Sunday's football game.

One of the DUI arrests was the result of a single-vehicle crash. Sargent Darrell Byers, with the Albemarle County Police Department, says a car traveling on Stony Point Road veered off the road hitting a guard rail and two mail boxes. The driver was charged with a DUI and taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center with minor injuries.

The other DUI arrests occurred on 5th Street and near the Thomas Jefferson Parkway.

Police say they expect people to be drinking more alcohol than on a typical Sunday night because of the Super Bowl, and therefore say there is an increased possibility of DUI drivers.

They encourage drivers to stay safe and not to drive after drinking.
