Alexandria Police Search for Gunman in Fatal Shooting of a Teacher

Feb. 10, 2014

Police in Alexandria are searching for a man who shot a woman dead in her home Thursday, Feb. 6th.

Music teacher Ruth-Anne Lodato was gunned down in her home after someone knocked on her door Thursday morning.

Police believe an older man with a white beard pulled a gun and started shooting after she opened the door.

The situation has left some neighbors on edge.

"It doesn't matter if you're old or young, I think a lot of people won't open the door unless it's someone in uniform," said Barry Mudd, a neighbor.

So far, no suspects have been brought into custody. Police have found no motive or any visible connection between the victim and the suspect.
