The Charlottesville Figure Skating Club (CFKC) held a Skate-A-Thon at the Main Street Arena on the Downtown Mall.
Members of the club skated laps to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia.
The Skate-A-Thon included a public skate, where 15 percent of the proceeds raised also went to the Boys and Girls Club.
The event helps spread the word about the figure skating club and national skating month.
“We've offered them some different things this morning as far as some games, some entertainment, some exhibitions of our skaters, so that they can enjoy the skating and know that this is something offered here in Charlottesville,” says Sharon Judd, vice president of CFSC.
Last year the event raised $1,550 for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. They hope to top that amount this year.
