Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection to an armed robbery at the McDonald's on Washington Street in Madison County.
Sheriff Eric Weaver said a man walked into the McDonald's wearing a mask and pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded money. A short time later, an officer noticed the man walking down the street with a gun in one hand and wad of cash in the other. The man saw the officer and jumped into a nearby car. A short chase followed and the car was stopped by officers in the Brightwood area of Madison County.
Charles Hewlett, 20, was charged with robbery, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and wearing a mask to hide his identity. Erika Allan, 36, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. Both are being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place at the McDonald's on Washington Street. Officials say around 5:00 PM a man walked into the fast food restaurant and pointed a gun at the cashier. A suspect has been arrested in connection to the robbery.
