Inside a quaint house in Belmont, a unique event and fundraiser was born to celebrate Valentine's Day and benefit two good causes.
Heart-shaped chocolate chip scones and homemade cards are delivered to that special someone by a costumed cyclist on Valentine's Day.
"The first year, it was 25 orders and it was done out of a home kitchen. Now, Sojourners Church lets us use their space to bake there. We have chocolate chips, and pounds and pounds of flour," said Melissa Wender, a volunteer with the Bake and Bike fundraiser.
This year with the ninth-annual event, there are more than 75 orders, and all donations will benefit Charlottesville Community Bikes and Books Behind Bars, which gives requested books to prisoners in Virginia.
Volunteers spent Sunday afternoon creating and writing the personal cards, while one couple got ready for their second year of volunteering to dress up and make the deliveries.
"The whole thing is just very unique and it's fun to be a part of it. A part of giving, a part of experiencing, sharing, and the scones are delicious," said Joanie Freeman, a volunteer delivery cyclist.
"People were honking at us on the streets, it was just a trip. We would do this every year!"
They say it's all about sharing love and they wouldn't spend Valentines Day any other way.
For a good cause, it's all to make neighbors and loved one's feel a little sweeter on Valentine's Day.
