The FBI has joined Virginia State Police and the Nelson County Sheriff's Department in the search for a bank robber.
Official say a man walked into the BB&T Bank on Route 151 in Nelson County around 9:30 Wednesday morning. Half of the man's face was covered by a bandanna and the man showed his gun, demanding money from the bank teller. The man ran out of the bank on foot, with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a black male, standing a little over six feet tall and wearing black pants and a white shirt. Investigators have been searching all day for the unidentified man. A state police helicopter patrolled the area around Afton Mountain for much of the afternoon.
This same BB&T branch was robbed in 2008.
UPDATE 3:28 PM
Investigators confirm suspect displayed a firearm during the robbery.
Nelson County Sheriff's Office are investigating a bank robbery at the BB&T on Route 151.
Investigators have deployed a helicopter in the area as they search for the suspect.
The FBI and Virginia State Police are assisting Nelson County officers in the case.
Nobody was injured in the robbery.
CBS19 has a crew on the scene and will be updating this story as information is confirmed.
