Belew Announces Candidacy for Fluvanna Co. Sheriff

May 27, 2014

Mark Belew officially announces his candidacy for Fluvanna County sheriff.

Belew, a life-long resident of Fluvanna Co., made the announcement in front of the old courthouse in Palmyra Tuesday.

He has 15 years of law enforcement experience and says all that experience will certainly help him if he is elected as the new county sheriff.

"It gives me an opportunity to bring back all the things that I've learned working in 15 years at other agencies to come back home where I grew up and have personal relationships with people,” Belew said.

Belew joins interim Sheriff Eric Hess in the special election this November.

Former Sheriff Ryant Washington left his post a few weeks ago to work for Governor Terry McAuliffe in Richmond.
