The trial of George Huguely, the former University of Virginia men's lacrosse player accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, begins Monday, Feb. 6. On Friday, Judge Edward Hogshire ruled that graphic photos of a badly beaten Yeardley Love can be shown in court as evidence.

While in court, the Commonwealth's Attorney also revealed that Love's mother, Sharon, and sister, Lexie, will be the first witnesses to testify. They will then be allowed to sit and watch the remainder of the trial.

It will be the first time the Love family has spoken about the death of the former UVa women's lacrosse player outside of a written statement. Yeardley Love died on May 3, 2010, three weeks before she was set to graduate.

Also in the court, Judge Hogshire ruled on several more motions filed by Huguely's defense team. His attorneys didn't want photographs of a bloodied and bruised Love to be used as evidence, saying the pictures were "prejudicial" and "inflammatory." Judge Hogshire disagreed.

Photographs taken by law enforcement inside Love's apartment will show her swollen face, her body after resuscitation attempts and autopsy photos will be shown to jurors, but turned away from family members and the media.

Huguely will be in court Monday, but it's possible the media won't be able to take pictures of the defendant. It's also unknown if the accused killer will testify.

Friday's hearing was originally called by Judge Hogshire to make sure the Commonwealth's Attorney, Huguely's defense and city officials are on the same page before the media frenzy descends on Charlottesville in three days.

Is this guy special or something. He should get the same treatment as anyone else. His picture plastered in the media outlets like it should be.
