Blood Drive Held in Honor of Capt. Kevin Quick

June 9, 2014

Virginia Blood Services (VBS) is honoring a fallen Waynesboro Police officer in a new way, with a blood drive in his name.

Waynesboro Reserve Police Captain Kevin Wayne Quick was found dead this past February. Police say Quick was kidnapped and killed by members of a street gang.

Now the Albemarle County Police Department is joining forces with VBS to pay their respects to him and other officers with a blood drive.

They are hoping to see at least twenty to thirty donors come out in support of the cause but the drive isn't just about numbers...

“Our goal here is more than just numerical. It's also an attempt to, again, encourage people to come out and show their appreciation for the great things that our police officers do for us,” said Terry Atwater with VBS.

The blood drive will be open until 6 p.m. at the Route 29 Holiday Inn on Emmet Street.

There is also another blood drive in the works in honor of Capt. Quick. That one will be in Waynesboro on June 19.
