A blood drive will take place Monday in memory of the son and sister of Albemarle County's circuit court clerk.
Clerk Debbie Shipp lost her son, David, two years ago in a car accident. Last year, her sister, former Charlottesville circuit court clerk candidate Pam Melampy, organized a blood drive in his memory.
Melampy died suddenly of a brain aneurysm one week before the blood drive.
Shipp is keeping the blood drive going in honor of both her son and sister. Last year brought in more than 50 pints of blood, and she's hoping for even more this year.
"It's just important to me to keep their memory going, and having this blood drive every January is the way to do that," Shipp said. "I guess God gives me the strength to get up day to day because some days are difficult."
The drive will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church on Park Street.
