A bounty hunter in Pennsylvania says he has a theory about who killed Morgan Harrington.
The bounty hunter, who identified himself only as "James" says he recognizes the man in the sketch that police say killed Harrington. James claims the man has also kidnapped nearly a dozen other women who look similar to each other.
"If you look at the pattern," James said, "there's absolutely no way you can rule it out."
James says the man may have also kidnapped Kortne Stouffer of Lebanon County, Penn., a few months ago. James claims that he knows the suspect, and that the suspect is in the National Guard and targets most of his victims near military bases or armories.
"That unit trains at Charlottesville," said James. "They go up to Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Fort Indiantown Gap and Fort Bragg."
James would not publicly release the name of the man he believes to be the suspect, but he has contacted police and given them the name.
Police say they have not found any connection between the death of Harrington and the disappearance of Stouffer. Virginia State Police say the man in the sketch is connected only to the Harrington murder and a sexual assault case in Fairfax County in 2005. But the theory is resonating with Morgan Harrington's mother.
"This bounty hunter may be onto something," Gil Harrington said. "He may really be connecting the dots in a different way. The similarities between the girls are startling.
"It's been a long time, three years and five months since Morgan was killed. In that time, it's not that we have ridden a roller coaster of tips and evidence that made it seem likely that an arrest was forthcoming. This is the first one. But all it takes is one."
