Boy Scouts from the Monticello District hosted the second-annual Mega Fun Day at McIntire Park.
The event stresses outdoor fun. Activities on the day included how to raise and lower a flag, how to use a compass, and how to build water bottle rockets.
The motto of the Boy Scouts is "Do Your Best," and organizers hope the kids can learn these skills and use them throughout their lives.
It's amazing to see how they grow and develop and how their confidence builds and how they work together," said Diane Benham, the volunteer activities and civic service chair for the Monticello District. "And they get so excited. They come up to me, 'Ms. Benham, Ms. Benham, I learned this, I know how to do that.' It's really nice to see how they grow and learn new things and want to try new things."
The scouts also took part in a service project by making fleece blankets to distribute to other kids in need.
