The Charlottesville Area Transit System is expanding its free rides program for local high school students.
Starting Tuesday, the teen ride program is open to students from all public and private high schools, as well as home-schooled teens. They can ride any CAT bus to popular Charlottesville destinations like Barracks Road Shopping Center and the Downtown Mall for free.
"Students are able to hop on the bus and go where they need to go without worry of trying to find parking, or use a car, or ask Mom and Dad to borrow the keys," said Westley Kern, the marketing coordinator for CAT.
Students need to show their school IDs for the free ride. The program runs through June.
