Hundreds of runners took over the streets of Charlottesville as they ran the annual marathon and half-marathon on Saturday.
The eleventh-annual Charlottesville Marathon had more than 2,000 people participate from locals to Californians and New Yorkers. Families and friends waited at the finish line at the Downtown Mall to greet their runners -- and so was a medal. One was given to each runner as they crossed the finish line.
Many made their way to the Main Street Arena to the expo to get some free food and celebrate. Others visited the Charlottesville City Market right across the street.
