A new study to provide the building blocks for a cure to cancer, and you can join in the effort.
It's called Cancer Prevention Study 3, and it will follow volunteers for the next twenty years.
CBS19's Dan Schutte is already signed up for the study, and you can too. The American Cancer Society (ACS) is hoping for 500 participants in Virginia and 300,000 nationwide.
The goal is to identify activities and behaviors that might cause cancer down the road.
"It should be a big deal for a lot of people," said Robert Noriega with ACS. " It's our chance to do something, be part of something historic, we're going to be 100 years this month, and this is the third time we do it.
All you need to participate is to be between the ages of 30 and 65, fill out a survey, and draw some blood.
