A pickup truck slammed into an apartment building near Rio Road early Saturday morning, creating some scary moments for residents.

It happened on Royal Court in the Abbington Crossings apartment complex. A pickup truck hit a corner unit, damaging the side of the building.

People were home at the time, but no one was hurt.

The fire marshall says the apartment is condemned. Residents are being moved to another apartment within the complex.

One neighbor who lives directly above the apartment that was hit says she had quite a scare.

"I was suddenly awaken by a loud bang, and I knew that someone had hit the apartment," said Mary-Carolyn Lawson. "We've always been afriad they'd come down this hill and their brakes would fail and they'd hit this side. I ran around, and he was parked on their patio."

The driver has been charged in the incident, but police have not released with exactly what.
