Charlottesville City Police say a car hit an elderly man sitting on a bench in the Barracks Road Shopping Center. The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Monday.
Police say the driver of the car, a woman in her mid-thirties, was pulling into a parking spot, when she accelerated by accident. The car hit a concrete bench in front of the Levy's store.
The man, who was in his mid-seventies suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Damage was done to both the bench and the car.
The driver of the car has been charged with Reckless Driving.
