Changes are coming to UVa's independent student newspaper.
The Cavalier Daily announced on Friday its plans to shift its focus to a new digital format.
In August, the paper will be a revamped biweekly newsmagazine with additional online offerings.
“Platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and blogs are becoming increasingly popular,” said Kaz Komolafe, Cavalier Daily managing editor. “After an assessment of the newspaper we decided the best way of riding the wave of contemporary journalism was to move with the times.”
The upgrade was thanks, in part, to a $20,000 grant from the UVa Parents’ Committee.
The Cavalier Daily has been serving the University of Virginia since 1890, making it one of the oldest college newspapers in the country.
