Chamber Reports Va. Tax Data Show First Quarter 2014 Retail Sales Mixed

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is releasing tax data for the first quarter of the year.

The report shows retail sales activity across the region was mixed: Sales rose in Albemarle and Louisa Counties, the City of Charlottesville and Waynesboro. Meanwhile, Augusta and Greene Counties showed declines in their total retail sales.

Virginia Department of Taxation sales tax data shows an increase of 3.79% for Albemarle Co., 3.95% in Louisa Co., 23.85% for Charlottesville and 2.37% for Waynesboro. Total retail sales dropped 3.83% in Augusta Co., while Greene Co. saw a 10.56% decline.
