A Charlottesville man accused of robbing an Albemarle County bank entered a guilty plea.
On Wednesday, John Adolf Reich pleaded guilty to bank robbery and larceny.
Reich appeared in court for a jury trial on separate grand larceny charges. After he was arraigned he decided instead to enter a guilty plea for one count larceny and for the robbery of the bank.
Reich robbed the SunTrust bank located inside the Kroger grocery store in the Rio Hill Shopping Center back in September.
Police say he walked up to the bank counter, told the teller to fill a bag with money, and claimed he had a gun.
Reich made off with almost $800, some of which he used to buy drugs. Police were able to identify him through surveillance video and he was arrested that same evening.
In January, Reich asked a judge for the right to defend himself against the larceny charge, but requested a public defender for the charge of robbery.
Reich is scheduled to be sentenced in June. He is facing life in prison.
