People who live in Charlottesville public housing may have to relocate while their houses are renovated.

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) talked with public housing residents Thursday night about possible changes.

CRHA is considering applying for Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) in part because of decreased federal funding. RAD would allow for renovations to housing units. The number of units would not decrease and rent would stay the same.

During the construction residents would have to move, most likely to temporary public housing units.

"I think that Charlottesville redevelopment is good, you know, good for me, because it'll help me. But I hope and pray that things will still work out whatever they're trying to do. And maybe if they can let the residents know different stuff more often then it'll be better for everybody," said Renee Bryant, a public housing resident.

There are two more meetings scheduled to talk about the RAD application:

October 14, 2013 South First Street 5:30 p.m.
October 16, 2013 Crescent Halls 1:00 p.m.
