Members of the school board and city councilors met Friday in Charlottesville to tackle budget issues.

Charlottesville City Schools faces a more than $4 million deficit, which means renovations to Buford Middle School will have to wait. Grad reconfiguration will also have to wait.

In order to solve this and other budget issues, the city has created two task forces, one of which will bridge the gap between the city and the county.

"That's a task force that will be getting involved with looking at long-term solutions to fiscal problems that both jurisdictions are going to be facing over the long haul," said Councilor Kathy Galvin.

The second task force will focus on the renovations to Buford. However, the school board still needs to close the $4 million gap before they officially present the budget to city council next month.
