UPDATE: Police Arrest Charlottesville Shooting Suspect

Charlottesville Police arrested shooting suspect Shannon Christopher Bowles Thursday morning.

The Palmyra resident has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon in connection to an Oct. 23 shooting off Preston Avenue.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Forest Street around 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 23 for reports of shots fired. While they were at the scene, they were notified by the University of Virginia Medical Center that a male victim in his early 20s was brought to the Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The victim, whose name is not being released at this time, underwent surgery that night and was listed in stable condition the following day.
