Two people are facing charges after a brief police chase in Albemarle County and Charlottesville Thursday morning.
Police say the chase began after they spotted a car they believed was involved in an attempted break-in at the Red Carpet Inn in Albemarle County. When an officer attempted to pull the car over, the driver sped off.
Eventually the car stopped on Barracks Road. Police say the passenger, Brian Turner, got out of the vehicle and started running up the 250 Bypass ramp. As police began chasing Turner, the driver of the car drove away. Turner was eventually apprehended.
The car was eventually stopped at the Barracks Road Shopping Center in Charlottesville. The driver, Derrick Washington, was arrested.
Both men are charged with unlawful entry and destruction of property. Washington is also charged with eluding police and driving on a suspended license.
Turner was released on a $4000 bond. Washington is being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
