Investigators say seven people were inside the home at the time of the accident.

The 6-year-old found a semi-automatic handgun belonging to a man living in the house and accidentally fired it.

The bullet went through a wall and into the little girl's back while she was playing in another room.

The little girl was taken to an area hospital, where she underwent surgery. She is awake and in stable condition.
