City Council Hears Options on Belmont Bridge

July 16, 2014

Members of Charlottesville City Council are being told that the best way forward to fixing the Belmont Bridge is to simply replace it.

City staff, who have been reviewing the different proposals, are recommending building a shorter bridge with more walking and biking space.

They say the underpass option is too expensive, and would create too many problems.

The council will hear more on the report at its meeting on Monday, where they will decide on one of the proposed plans or start the process over again.
