City Officials Hold Government Service Day in Charlottesville

Sept. 26, 2013

City of Charlottesville officials were out along the Downtown Mall on Thursday, meeting the community for Government Service Day.

Students as well as people who just wanted a bit of information were able to meet members of local government.

Over 35 booths representing city department were out answering questions and showing what they do for the City of Charlottesville.

"A lot of times when people interact with the government they just have one question or are talking to one particular department. So this is a really good opportunity to come out and learn about what the city does during any given day<' says Charlottesville Spokesperson Miriam Dickler. "Also to get your questions answered, if you don't know who to ask this is a great day to come down and find that person."

The Charlottesville Fire Department also has a smoke alarm program going on at the event, educating kids about to do when one goes off.
