All around the Charlottesville area, people saved energy Friday morning by taking the Clean Commute pledge and finding a different way to get to work.
This is the 23rd annual Clean Commute Day, where drivers are asked to take a pledge to use a different form of transportation, other than driving, to get to work.
Pledge-takers were encouraged to bike, take a bus, and even walk to work.
Last year commuter organizations like Ride Share, UTS and Jaunt, gathered near the Freedom of Speech Wall on the Downtown Mall to show people how they can take advantage of the different forms of transportation in the Charlottesville area.
This year, these organizations will be on the Downtown Mall from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM today helping people sign up to take the pledge.
