Computers4Kids (C4K) Thursday announced its Teen Tech program curriculum is a finalist for The HASTAC/MacArthur Foundation Badges for Lifelong Learning Competition in San Francisco later this month.

The Competition, which will be held on Feb. 29, is in collaboration with the Mozilla Foundation, and is part of the 4th Digital Media and Learning Competition funded by the MacArthur Foundation and administered by HASTAC.

The Badges for Lifelong Learning Competition is designed to encourage the creation of digital badges and badge systems that support, identify, recognize, measure and account for new skills, competencies, knowledge, and achievements for 21st century learners.

Computers4Kids Executive Director Kala Somerville says,”C4K is proud to have completed Stage One and Two and we are so excited to go to the final round of the competition and share the C4K curriculum on a national stage."

The local nonprofit organization will compete for grants of $10,000 to $200,000. Winners will implement badge systems in their own organizations, and share them through Mozilla’s Open Badge Infrastructure.
