Congressman Robert Hurt visited Albemarle County Thursday. During his visit he spoke in Keswick with the members of the Central Virginia Chapter Military Officers Association of America.
Congressman Hurt says he wanted to honor veterans and show his gratitude for their service. He wanted to reassure them that politicians in Washington are working to balance the budget.
He also wanted to let them know they will continue to provide support to both veterans and those fighting overseas.
"There is nothing more important , no more important responsibility for the national government than providing for the national defense. When it comes to national defense we have to be very serious about making sure we provide funding for troops in the field. At the same time we have to make sure we take care of those who take care of us, and of course I am talking about our veterans," said Hurt.
Hurt also responded to the President's State of the Union Address. He said he was disappointed that President Obama did not lay out a bold proposal to balance the budget.

Well if Rep. Hurt wanted to talk with veteran's I challenge him to speak with those that use The Haven services. There are people there that were officers and enlisted, I feel that he would a VERY WELL-ROUNDED experience and feed back by doing that and how much it would show that he cares for EVERYBODY in his district. Oh yeah, that's right, they are poor so why care about those vets? Discuss
