A group of conservatives are stepping up efforts to impeach Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring.
On Monday, leaders of several conservative groups met in Rockingham County to discuss a variety of issues. One of these issues is Herring's decision to not defend Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage in court.
They're circulating a petition, asking for Herring's impeachment, hoping to get about 10,000 signatures in the next month.
"If this man can come in, in two weeks decide he's going to take a major amendment that one point three million people voted for eight years ago, where will he go next?" said Don Blake with the Virginia Christian Alliance.
A spokesman for Atty. Gen. Herring called the threats of impeachment inappropriate.
