"One of our specialties has always been that really amazing beer and how do we connect it to the food that we're cooking," says Brooke Fedora, owner of the Horse and Hound Gastropub.
For years the owners of Horse and Hound Gastropub have offered an extensive selection of beer to go perfectly with their food menu and they have decided to put together all of their favorite pairings into "The Foodie's Beer Book".
"If you find the right seasonal beer with the right seasonal ingredients and you incorporate the beer into the dish, and you drink the beer with the dish, the flavors compliment, the beer compliments, the flavors all come out and you experience it for what it really is supposed to be," says Luther Fedora, owner of Horse and Hound Gastropub.
Charlottesville, known for its budding beer seen is the perfect place to blend the best of two worlds.
"With the new breweries coming up especially the local ones making really different innovative beers flavors and styles you might not have had before or not even heard of before, it can really take it to a much broader spectrum, incorporating different styles of food, different flavors of food as well," says Fedora.
Pairing beer with side dishes and main meals is expected but what about pairing beer with dessert?
"I think that beer and pastries go insanely well together, the sweetness and the bitterness really balance each other out," says Fedora.
While a new concept for many, it is the perfect blend for anyone looking to take advantage of the surplus of local beer and homemade food.
