Sunday, the victim of Thursday's motorcycle crash spoke out to say 'thank you' to the six strangers who rescued him.

"I thought I was dead, I couldn't breath at all," recalled Jonathan Lavezzo. "One second I'm on my motorcycle, the next I am under a car." On Thursday, Lavezzo was riding through the Charlottesville area, he was headed up Carlton Road, when police say the driver of a white Dodge pulled in front of Lavezzo to make a left turn from Monticello Road to Carlton Road.

"The car hit me in the face, rolled over my chest, and pinned me underneath," said Lavezzo. The weight of the running car compressed his lungs.

"It felt claustrophobic," said Lavezzo. Because the car was running the whole time he was pinned underneath, Lavezzo suffered third degree burns on both legs.

"It felt like one thousand hot pokers going into my legs," said Lavezzo. "If I had been under the car for much longer I may not have had my legs." But the motorcyclist was only under the car for minutes, thanks to six strangers that pulled the car off him.

"They are my angels, they are my heroes, I would not be here if it was not for them," said Lavezzo. He will have to undergo more surgery and will never regain feeling in the burned areas again. His family says, that doesn't matter.

"When I saw him, I ran up to him, and just kissed him, I was filled with relief and gratitude," said Debbie Lavezzo, Jonathan's mother. It's a gratitude the family says they owe to the six nameless strangers."

"They gave me one more day with my wife, one more day with my son, " said Lavezzo. "I'm a lucky lucky guy, the luckiest guy in the planet I think." He is asking the six people who rescued him to contact him, so he can thank them himself.

The driver of the white Dodge has been charged with failure to yield.
