Gubernatorial hopeful, Ken Cuccinelli visited a food bank in Orange County on Wednesday for his "Putting Virginians First" tour.
The Republican candidate met with the director of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank to talk about the issues that they face throughout the year.
The Orange County food bank supplies food for areas around Central Virginia, and Cuccinelli says he wants to help relieve some of the pressure.
"You talk to these folks, if you talk to the people who deal with food banks state wide you'll find, not surprisingly, that the need really started to go up when the economy went flat and the two are related," says Cuccinelli. "How that happens and why that happens has striking similarities around Virginia."
Cuccinelli wants to encourage food bank volunteers to continue their work.
He says he hopes to commend them at the Governor's Mansion if he wins.
