The sights and sounds of dozens of cultures came together in one place Saturday afternoon at Lee Park for the annual Festival of Cultures.

From Bhutanese dancing and food from Bangladesh to Native American clothing, new cultures to Charlottesville and old all gathered at the park to celebrate the similarities and differences.

"It's a way of educating new arrivals and people who have been here," organizer Heidi Gordon said. "I think it's unique in that it provides a forum for interaction between these two populations."

Nearly 30 different groups set up booths to show and tell their own cultures and stories.
