DMV-2-Go Coming to Downtown Charlottesville

A new service is bringing the DMV to Downtown Charlottesville.

The "DMV 2 Go" van will be parked downtown on 5th street from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday, offering many of the services that the regular DMV does.

Those who stop by can not only renew a license, but can get vehicle titles, decals and license plates, update an address records, get a fishing or hunting license, apply for a veteran card or update voter registration.

The actual DMV is located on Pantops. Todd Divers, Charlottesville's Commissioner of Revenue say this service is all about convenience and bringing the DMV to a spot that many people in Charlottesville have access to.

"There's nothing wrong with Pantops, but some folks cant get over there very easily. They are stuck in a catch-22; they need services that the DMV provides like ID's, but they don't have a drivers license yet," Divers said.

This is the first time the "DMV 2 Go" will be in Charlottesville. Other localties in the commonwealth have similar services.

"DMV 2 Go" will be back on the Downtown Mall June 13.
