A college education could soon be more accessible for parents in central Virginia.
The Piedmont Family YMCA and Piedmont Virginia Community College are teaming up to offer discounted child care for PVCC students, faculty and staff.
Day and evening care for children six weeks to 11-years-old will soon be offered at the renovated Jefferson School in downtown Charlottesville.
PVCC students will get a 20 percent discount for full day care services. A five dollar evening hourly rate will also be available.
“We hope it will open up the doors to higher education for more and more people in our community,” said Frank Friedman, President, PVCC.
“It provides a wonderful opportunity for students who might not otherwise be able to attend campus and not have to worry about where am I going to have to put my child tonight, tomorrow or next week,” said Dennis Blank, CEO, Piedmont Family YMCA.
The services will be available to PVCC students and staff from the main campus, Jefferson School location and Greene County facility.
The program is expected to begin December 3rd.
