950 canines competed Saturday to be "best in show" at the annual Charlottesville-Albemarle Kennel Club Dog Show at Foxfield in Albemarle County.

Dogs and their owners gathered at Foxfield to try to stand out from the rest. From Chihuahua's to Great Danes, puppies were primped, jogged and then examined by judges.

However, there can only be one winner.

"We whittle down all day long until we get seven dogs in the ring," says Charlottesville-Albemarle Kennel Club President Sandy Lady. "One of those dogs becomes the best in show. It's very exciting!"

Another day of judging lies ahead for the same and different contestants on Sunday. Judging, shows and fun for kids will take place from 7:00am to 8:00pm, again at Foxfield on Barracks Road.
