It will be a busy week ahead for the Dogwood Festival Queen and her Court of Princesses.
On Sunday, the group got together at the Elk's Lodge for a social.
The princesses learned more about what to expect during the upcoming festival week.
The reigning queen is Katelyn Almarode. She is a junior of Fluvanna County High School.
Almarode will be giving up her crown later this month to one of the princesses.
"They're all fantastic girls, and that's probably why they were chosen. We always get a great group of girls because they know how to choose them. They know which ones are here for the right reasons and which ones will represent us best. So it's been really nice to get to know them. I'm very excited to get to know them better throughout the entire week and see who ends up being the new Dogwood Queen," said Almarode.
The new Dogwood Queen will be crowned on April 26 at the DoubleTree Hotel during the Dogwood Ball.
The court is made up of young women from Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Louisa, Orange, Nelson, Madison and Greene counties.
This is the 65th year of the festival.
