Dominion Va. Power Sending Crews to Northeast

November 3, 2012

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Dominion Virginia Power is joining with other utilities from around the country to help power companies in the Northeast recover from Superstorm Sandy.

The Richmond-based energy provider says it has offered nearly 1,500 workers to assist in the restoration effort in New York and New Jersey, including linemen, tree trimmers, storm damage patrollers and underground cable workers. Dominion also is sending its mobile command center, bucket trucks and supporting vehicles.

The company said that crews headed out Friday immediately after restoring power to all 322,000 of its customers affected by the storm.

Parent company Dominion Resources is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy and serves retail customers in 15 states.
