A Charlotesville woman is charged with DUI and disregarding a red traffic signal after crashing into a police officer's car Sunday, December 9th .
The collision happened around 8:30 PM at the intersection of Sixth Street Southeast and Elliott Avenue.
Police say 22-year-old Hope Herndon failed to stop at the red light and struck the passenger door or the police cruiser, causing the vehicle to hit a fire hydrant.
Both the officer and Herndon were treated at the UVa. Medical Center for minor injuries.
