Albemarle County Supervisor Christopher Dumler is expected to begin serving his 30-day jail sentence on Friday more than a month after he pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual battery.
Dumler has opted to serve his jail sentence on weekends, reporting to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail on Fridays and leaving on Sundays.
This type of sentencing is typical for people convicted of misdemeanors as it allows them to hold a job during the week.
Jail officials say on a typical Friday there are an average of 20 to 30 inmates who report to the jail to serve on the weekends.
